Singing With The Coyote Sunset

I was welcomed back to the mountains after some days with family by this amazing sunset.  I knew I had to stop the car which seemed to be what many people were thinking because there were cars pulled over all along the side of the road.  After the crowd left I started singing to the sunset and when I was finished heard the response from coyotes in the distance.

I've had a strong connection with crows for many years.  About two and half years ago they started to fly with  my car and every so often it still happens.  I love traveling down a back road and slowing down to drive/fly at "crow speed" with them.  Here's a song I wrote to honor the beauty of this bird that looks like darkness but when you catch them just right the light reveals a world of blue iridescence.

It's also a tribute to my friend and fellow crow sister Greta!  

Deep Questions

If visions are mental pictures of what is possible, I think I have always seen them.  I think we all do.  It's been more a matter of when I thought they had meaning, importance, or a story to tell. This all came about from meeting two close friends who really "saw" me.  I began to share these stories and they were blown away.  One friend in particular would elaborate on the concepts and then ask for more information.  It helped validate these dreams as information, as something with meaning.  They became less of me thinking "Man, I seem so crazy! I gotta hide this." and started to excite my inner researcher who now had a ton of material to work with.

"As an adolescent, I was painfully shy, withdrawn. I didn’t really have the nerve to sing my songs on stage and nobody else was doing them. I decided to do them in disguise so that I didn’t have to actually go through the humiliation of going on stage and being myself. The sense i'm getting is that the persona allowed him to keep the flow open and active. Not blocked like an artist who stops creating because they can't show up for it in the way they're creativity is asking them to. David Bowie created a version of himself that could show up for what his creative flow was asking of him. Throughout his life these various pieces or personas of him integrated to become what is now probably a new constellation!

It has been a bit since I've paid some attention to this blog and I am feeling very grateful to be here typing away.  The summer has breezed by in somewhat of a blur of part time jobs and I am happy to settle down into what I hope is more open time.  Also, to dedicate time and intention to my textile projects.

The creative challenge I embarked on became too demanding once I had to dedicate time towards other jobs but my fall project is getting the etsy shop more current with all the new things I've been creating!  Exciting!
